Resource Type:
Media Type:

The Retail Race Divide examines differences in retail workers' occupations, earnings, and schedules based on race to reveal how employment in retail fails to meet the needs of the workforce, thereby perpetuating racial inequality. Decades after worker equality law advancements, disparities in the marketplace perpetutate occupational segregation, low pay, unstable schedules, and involuntary part-time work. Employers have the chance to make an important and real impact on racial inequality by paying living wages and offering adequate hours for all retail workers.
