USHRN Sends ICCPR Delegation to Geneva

A USHRN delegation traveled to Geneva to attend the 107th session of the UN Human Rights Committee.  The Adoption of the List of Issues for the U.S. government International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) 2013 review took place during the session.  Delegation members attended a briefing with members of the Committee on March 18, and met with other UN officials during the visit to inform the agenda for the U.S. review.  The delegation sought to educate officials on pressing human rights issues in the U.S., violations that were raised in the USHRN member and partner reports submitted to the Committee in December 2012 and that human rights groups urge be raised during the U.S. government review in October of this year.

A report back from the delegation visit will be held in April.  Go to the USHRN ICCPR webpage for more information on this project.

Stay tuned for the announcement of the date for the April report back and other upcoming project events and activities.
