TwelveTen Magazine Call For Proposals

The US Human Rights Network is seeking proposals from individuals and organizations who would like to write for the Spring/Summer issue of TwelveTen Magazine. This edition of TwelveTen will focus on the timely subject of human rights in the context of the current economic crisis. All ideas are welcome and might include (but are not limited to): specific strategies for dealing with the reality of the economic situation and advancing human rights agendas in a tight economy; the intersection of such human rights issues as housing, education and health care with the economy; the need to establish organizational and advocacy priorities, and what those priorities should be (and why); overcoming such organizational challenges as limited funding and resources; ways to direct stimulus funds to advance human rights or include a human rights element in stimulus projects; the political dimensions of the crisis at the local, regional and/or national levels; etc.

  • write a brief synopsis of your proposed article – the more detailed, the better, but at least a couple of paragraphs;
  • estimate the length of the piece (minimum 750 words, maximum 3,000 words), or explain why it should be shorter or longer;
  • include your name and contact information; and
  • include one to three lines of biographical information.
