US ICCPR List of Issues - 2013

2013 List of Issues for the US Government. The List of Issues consists of 27 questions that the U.S. Government will need to address in writing and in person before the UN Human Rights Committee (in October 2013) as part of the review process for the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The issues range from how the US is honoring its obligation to implement the treaty; racial disparities in the criminal justice system and racial profiling; voting rights and felony disenfranchisement; rights of persons labeled with disability; issues relating to gun violence; immigration and treatment of undocumented persons; Guantanamo detainees; corporal punishment of children; human trafficking and child prostitution; criminlaization of the homeless and the 2009 Helping Families Save Their Home Act; Indigenous rights; and more.
