US Human Rights Membership Meeting 2009

From December 10 -13, 2009 The US Human Rights Network hosted its first Membership Meeting in Miami, Florida. The meeting included over 100 USHRN members, supporters and allies from 21 states.

A discussion on building a people-centered human rights movement was led by USHRN Board Member Thandabantu Iverson and member Paul Mclennan. Members re-affirmed the importance of putting those directly impacted by human rights abuses at the center of finding solutions.  

Attendees examined present strengths and weaknesses of the US human rights movement and explored how the US Human Right’s Network can collectively navigate the opportunities and challenges confronting this emerging movement.
