CAT review attendees are invited to participate in a civil society consultation on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 with the United States Government delegation in Geneva that will appear before the U.N. Committee on Torture. The consultation will be an opportunity to address the following topics:
- Law Enforcement
- Immigration Detention
- Military Detention
- Military Operations
- Treaty Issues/Domestic Implementation
If you are interested in attending in person, please send your RSVP to Christian Anderson at: AndersonCM@state.gov by Friday, November 7th with (i) your name, (ii) institutional affiliation, and (iii) whether you intend to speak and under which agenda item, as well as a one-sentence description of the specific topic you’ll be addressing. Due to time constraints, please only sign up for one topic and note that we may not be able to hear from all speakers. Note that the committee is currently working with the United Nations to secure an option by which individuals can call in to listen to the consultation. If you are interested in such an option, please also RSVP by November 7th with your name; institutional affiliation; and an email address.
