Building a People-Centered Human Rights Movement!

2011 National Human Rights Conference and Membership Meeting

December 9 - 11, 2011
Radisson LAX Hotel
Los Angeles, California

Right wing forces are working aggressively to dismantle the social gains and human rights won through centuries of struggle by people of color, women, and workers in the United States. Now more than ever we must build a people-centered human rights movement to transform our society and the US government to ensure that it respects, protects and fulfills the human rights of all.

Join the US Human Rights Network in Los Angeles, California Friday, December 9th - Sunday, December 11th for our 2011 Membership Meeting and Bi-Annual Conference. The conference will be held at the Radisson Hotel at the Los Angeles Airport.

We encourage member organizations and all those generally interested in advancing human rights in the United States to attend and partake in the following strategic activities of the Network:

  • The new strategic planning process
  • The new international mechanisms proposal
  • Preparation for the 2012 regional membership meetings of the Network
  • The Bi-Annual Conference will feature a host of critical human rights trainings for novices and veterans alike, covering these and other critical areas:
  • Defending the rights of Indigenous and Oppressed Peoples
  • Attaining economic and social rights in the United States
  • Securing sexual and gender rights
  • Fighting for racial justice and immigrant rights using CERD
  • Fighting against torture and mass incarceration using CAT and ICCPR
  • And more!

Keynote address: Francisco Cali, ICERD Committee Member and member of the Presidential Commission against Racism and Discrimination against the Indigenous Peoples in Guatemala

Special Guest:  Marcela Olivera, Bolivian Water Rights Activist and Latin American Coordinator for the Water for All Campaign
