Member Organizations

USHRN Membership Organizations vary in size, focus and scope of work.  They are large, nationally-focused organizations, theme-specific organizations, multi-issue organizations, and small, community based organizations working to address issues impacting their local communities. The issues they work on cover the full range of human rights concerns facing communities across the country. Many are on the frontlines of local struggle fighting tirelessly injustices in their communities.

Member organizations participate in USHRN biennial national conferences, regional meetings, and in-person human rights workshops and online webinars, including human rights education institutes co-sponsored by the coordinating center and member partners and the USHRN biannual summer institute held on the intervening years between our biennial conferences.  Member organizations serve as advisors through our member structures such as the USHRN Taskforces and Working Groups, and work with other member and partner groups to promote action on common interests through the Member Initiated Action Teams (MIATs).

Members work, including events, actions, and resources, is highlighted on our website and in our monthly e-newsletters.  Members receive priority consideration for travel scholarships for USHRN conferences and educational sessions, as well as for support to participate in human rights delegations before policy making bodies at the international, national, and local levels. USHRN supports members efforts to raise their human rights concerns through "shadow reports" submitted to international human rights review bodies, such as those that review the U.S. Government's human rights record in the areas of protecting civil and political rights, eliminating all forms of racial discrimination, ending torture and all forms of inhuman and cruel punishment, and promoting and protecting all human rights including economic, social and cultural rights.

Sign up today to become a member of the US Human Rights Network.  Become a part of the growing human rights movement fighting for dignity and justice for all in the United States.
