Internships:
The US Human Rights Network is seeking hard working and motivated interns to assist with research, virtual activism, communications, and administrative needs. The intern will have completed a minimum of two years of undergraduate coursework and will preferably be working towards a graduate degree. Competitive applicants must have excellent written and spoken English skills. In addition, strong computer skills including Microsoft Word are required for the position. The intern must be able to work with minimum supervision and commit to a minimum of two months and 25-35 hours per week. There is no monetary compensation, but the experience will be a great addition to your resume and upon satisfactory completion, you may receive a formal letter of recommendation from the organization. US Human Rights Network volunteers and interns receive priority consideration for new opportunities, paid and unpaid.

Virtual Activism:
The main objective of the virtual activism internship is to identify and monitor selected listservs; develop a mechanism to link the USHRN website to other websites; post, monitor and increase utilization of Blogs. In addition, the VAI will assist in the development and updating of a Regional Alternative online media contact list. Duties include Assist in the research and preparation of the weekly news and announcements updates; propose ideas and mechanism to recruit members to become more active in the blogs and in submitting news and announcements; research content to be included on the website (news, articles, take actions, etc.); assist with the research of news releales, feature articles as required by Network Coordinator; help research, develop and update regional media lists; Participating in staff meetings Media and Promotions: The media and promotions internship will help develop the professional look, image and feel of the US Human Rights Network. The primary function of the internship is to increase press and community visibility of the Network. In addition, the internship will assist in the development and updating of a local, and regional alternative print, radio and television media contact list. Duties include Creation of brochures, a poster series and postcards; Research and create a database of stock image sources that have appropriate material and content for the USHRN; Assist Director of Programs and Network Operations, and Program Manager with the development of a media plan to enhance the USHRN (frequency of posters, postcards, etc.); preparation of standard templates for news releases, backgrounders, electronic letterhead, business cards, etc.; Establish a quick glance sheet of local media coverage (local news stations); Help research, develop and update regional media lists that include minority colleges and university newspapers and radio as well as minority and social justice associations. All interns are expected to spend between 20-30% of their time engaged in administrative support to staff.
